Cardiovascular disease (CVD) affects one in Ontario. It is the nation’s most common cause of death, killing one person every 12 minutes. Each year around 55,000 Ontario’s suffer a heart attack. Risk factors for CVD include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, poor nutrition, being overweight/obese and physical inactivity. An alarming 25% of Ontario’s have three or more risk factors for CVD, and 90% have at least one risk factor.
